Cloudy and Cool

Mid-May, and it reminds me of October! It is hard to remember that just one month ago we were having 70 degree weather, which was very unseasonable for that time. Last Saturday, it was 37 degrees at 8:30 AM in Newell Park, so we did not have yoga at that time. I am hoping for a nice, sunny, dry Saturday to welcome us into this weekend and the late part of May for this year. I am confidant that yoga will happen this Saturday and hope we have as good of turnout as we did for our first session! This weather is a challenge for me, to be productive and get up early. For some, it is nice cleansing rain, and that is what I am trying to remember. The ground needs that water and moisture, the trees are loving it, and so are all the animals and plants. It is also a good time to remember to be present in the moment, and see that there is beauty in every moment, no matter what is going on at the time. We might be fooled into thinking that 70 degrees and sunny are how things should be every day. Without clouds and rain, there would be no 70 degrees and sunny, because the two are part of an entire circle in which we are all part of. Everything balances eachother out and it is important to be present in each moment, no matter what it brings, because everything changes, all of the time. Namaste and see you Saturday!!

First session of Yoga in the Park

Wow!! I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout at Yoga in the Park this morning. I stepped outside at 7AM, and it was 51 and pretty windy. I said to myself " I hope 5-6 people show up today". I honestly was not prepared for the 20 some people that arrived. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. I have never taught that many people before, and at the beginning, I was quite nervous. I slowly became more confident as the minutes ticked by. We had a beautiful space to work with, all the trees were blooming with leaves and the dandelions made a nice colorful addition to the green floor we had.
Next week in Mother's Day, and I plan to focus on that. It will be a very nurturing class, and at the beginning, I want you to think of your mother, regardless of your relationship with her. It was because of your mother that you are here today. That means different things to different people, but for next week, we will focus on the Yin, the female energy.
I hope that you will come to Newell Park next Saturday, May 8 at 8:30AM. Until then, practice kindness in your actions and words, and let your Inner Light shine.
Namaste,
Sonja
